justice. What ?

Today,

The decision for Babri Masjid is out. It's strange though, the killer was never trialled for the murder but who get's the body became the key issue. They said, just split the body in three pieces. Simple.

A sad start.. can you see ?

Today,

I read this, and I was extremely grieved. It's not the first though but well.. this is here.

It just seems like they are gaining support for a strike in Pakistan. It's all clear. What can we not see ? - Justifying drone attacks in a sovereign country with a well capable army of it's own. Killing innocent lives due to the lack of intelligence and/or intelligence gathered by '3rd party' contractors. It's sad. Man killing man. It's sad.

The media reads off a well controlled script. Strangely enough, they are still known as 'unbiased' voice of the people. The brain washing begins now, it's all part of a bigger plan. We as a nation, have to wake up. We as a nation, have to speak out. We as a nation, have to say NO. I pray to Allah to guide us all towards the right path. And I pray to Allah to guard Pakistan against all evil, from within and from outside.

Pakistan Zindabad.

Al-Qaeda terror plot targeting Europe uncovered

Western intelligence agencies have uncovered an Al-Qaeda plot to launch Mumbai-style terrorist attacks in Britain, France and Germany, reports said Wednesday.

Militants based in Pakistan were planning simultaneous strikes in London and major cities in France and Germany, Britain's Sky News television reported, citing intelligence sources.

It was "one of the most serious Al-Qaeda attack plans in recent years" and was inspired by the terror group's fugitive leadership in Pakistan's tribal areas, said the BBC.

The United States was also a possible target and President Barack Obama had been briefed about the threat, said ABC News in the US citing American officials.

Planning for the attacks was advanced but they were not imminent and recent drone strikes in Pakistan had killed several leaders of the plot and severely disrupted it, said Sky.

Well-armed, commando-style teams of jihadists planned to seize Western hostages and murder them, in a manner similar to the siege of two Indian hotels in Mumbai in 2008, according to the BBC.

In the Mumbai attacks, 10 gunmen went on a three-day rampage, killing 166 people and injuring more than 300.

In Britain on Wednesday, the national threat level remained at "severe" -- where it has been since January -- which means a terrorist attack is thought highly likely.

France has been on a heightened state of alert amid warnings of an imminent terrorist attack but an official said late Tuesday these warnings were not linked to the reported Al-Qaeda plans.

The plot targeting Europe was uncovered after intelligence-sharing between London, France, Germany and the US, and their cooperation had led to the attack plans being disrupted, Sky reported.

A number of the plot leaders were killed in drone attacks which were increased in recent weeks to target them, said the broadcaster.

The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that the CIA had stepped up its drone attacks in Pakistan's tribal areas as part of efforts to prevent the mass attacks on European cities.

Pakistani security officials have reported around 20 drone strikes in the country's tribal belt along the Afghan border this month.

The latest on Tuesday killed Al-Qaeda's operational chief for Afghanistan and Pakistan in Pakistan's tribal areas, according to security officials in the country.

The source of the threat information was a suspected German terrorist captured on his way to Europe and now being held in Afghanistan, ABC said, citing intelligence and security officials in the US and Europe.

The report of the foiled plot came after the Eiffel Tower in Paris was evacuated Tuesday following the second hoax bomb threat at the landmark in a month and amid official warnings in France of an imminent terrorist attack.

However, a French intelligence source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP he was "not at all in the know" about the reported plot.

A French government source, with links to the intelligence service, said recent warnings of an attack in France were not linked to Wednesday's reports of planned attacks on European cities.

Britain's Home Office and the Metropolitan Police had no comment on the reports.

Reports of the plot came after US Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said last week "increased activity" by terror groups signalled a heightened threat against Western countries, including European states.

"We are all seeing increased activity by a more diverse set of groups and a more diverse set of threats," she told a US Senate hearing asked about warnings in Europe of a growing terror threat.

Mossad walks in Dubai..

Today;

As I read the news. I read that Mossad walked into Dubai, carried out their work, and walked away. Now, the weird thing is, Isn't this an infiltration into a country ? Armed troops, entering another Country, carrying out what they think is right. Going against the Law of the Land. - Will the Sheikhs stay quiet ? - I presume they haven't got a choice. sigh*.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100217/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_dubai_hamas_slaying

Weird. Sad. We have lost our voice. We have indeed.

________________________
Abstract straight from the link :

JERUSALEM – Israeli security officials said Wednesday they were convinced the Mossad was behind the assassination of a Hamas commander in Dubai and harshly criticized the spy agency for allegedly stealing the identities of its own citizens to carry out the hit.

Names released by Dubai matched seven people living in Israel, raising questions about why the agency would endanger its own people by using their passport data as cover for a secret death squad.

At the same time, some Israeli experts said the Dubai evidence pointed to a setup to falsely blame Israel.

A vague comment from Israel's foreign minister, who neither confirmed nor denied Mossad's involvement, only added to the spy novel-like mystery surrounding the slaying of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, who was found dead Jan. 20 at a luxury hotel near Dubai's international airport.

"Israel never responds, never confirms and never denies," Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said in Israel's first official comment on the affair, then added: "I don't know why we are assuming that Israel, or the Mossad, used those passports."

Some senior Israeli security officials not directly involved in the case were less circumspect, saying they were convinced it was a Mossad operation because of the motive — Israel says al-Mabhouh supplied Gaza's Hamas rulers with their most dangerous weapons — and the use of Israeli citizens' identities.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of a government order not to discuss the case, characterized the operation as a significant Mossad bungle.

If it develops into a full-blown security scandal, that could harm Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu politically.

Some compared the case to another Mossad embarrassment during Netanyahu's previous term as prime minister, the failed attempt to kill Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal in 1997. Two Mossad agents posing as Canadian tourists were captured after injecting Mashaal with poison, and Israel was forced to send an antidote that saved Mashaal's life. Today Mashaal is Hamas' supreme leader.

Still, there was praise for the Dubai operation from some analysts who noted the major difference between it and the Mashaal case is that the latter failed and the former achieved its goal — the assassination of a Hamas commander.

"Al-Mabhouh is dead and all the partners to the operation left Dubai safely," wrote analyst Ronen Bergman of the Yediot Ahronot newspaper.

Critics slammed the Mossad, not for killing al-Mabhouh on foreign territory but for doing it sloppily and endangering Israeli citizens in the process. A front-page commentary in Israel's Haaretz daily by defense analyst Amir Oren called for the ouster of Mossad director Meir Dagan.

"What is needed now is a swift decision to terminate Dagan's contract and to appoint a new Mossad chief," he wrote. "There's no disease without a cure."

Dubai authorities released names, photos and passport numbers of 11 members of the alleged hit squad this week, saying all 11 carried European passports. But most of the identities appeared to have been stolen, and at least seven matched up with real people in Israel who claim they are victims of identity theft.

Among them is Melvyn Adam Mildiner, a dual Israeli-British citizen who said one of the numbers matched his own UK passport. He told The Associated Press he had never been to Dubai.

Others expressed shock that their names were used. Paul John Keeley, a 43-year-old father of three, told Haaretz he was worried "that someone will try to harm us." Stephen Hodes told Israel Radio: "I'm simply afraid. These are powerful forces."

The revelations by Dubai, which has no diplomatic relations with Israel, raised many questions: Could someone be trying to make it look like the Mossad carried out the hit? Might Israel have wanted to leave behind a fingerprint to enhance the Mossad's mystique? Did Israel underestimate Dubai's policing abilities? Why would Israel risk exposing 11 agents by allowing them to be filmed by Dubai surveillance cameras, even if they were disguised?

Answers were not forthcoming, yet if Israeli involvement is confirmed, the al-Mabhouh killing is likely to be remembered as one of the more stunning hits in the Mossad's history of undercover operations.

The affair could have unwanted diplomatic repercussions for Israel. Britain's Foreign Office summoned Israeli Ambassador Ron Prossor for talks about the case Thursday.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown promised an inquiry, saying: "The British passport is an important document that has got to be held with care."

Irish Foreign Minister Micheal Martin said Wednesday the three Irish passports did have valid numbers, reversing Ireland's position of a day earlier, but he said they were issued to people with different names than those made public by Dubai. He said the Foreign Ministry was trying to determine whether the passports had been stolen or lost recently.

The Mossad has been accused of identity theft before. New Zealand convicted and jailed two Israelis in 2005 for trying to fraudulently obtain New Zealand passports.

However, this would be the first time the Mossad has been suspected of using the identities of its own citizens.

If the Israeli government was behind the identity theft, it broke Israeli laws against impersonation and fraud, said Nirit Moskovich of the Association for Civil Rights in Israel.

Some experts doubted the Mossad was involved.

Rafi Eitan, a former Cabinet minister and Mossad agent who took part in the capture of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann in 1960, speculated Israel's foes were trying to frame it by using the identities of Israelis.

"It means some foreign service, an enemy of Israel, wanted to taint Israel. It took the names of Israeli citizens, doctored the passports ... and thus tainted us," Eitan said.

Lawmaker Yisrael Hasson, a former deputy commander of Israel's Shin Bet internal security service, urged a meeting of the Israeli parliament's foreign affairs and defense committee to discuss the matter.

"No one should use someone's identity without his permission or without his understanding in some way what it is being used for," Hasson told Israel Radio.

Hamas, for its part, said it had no doubt who was to blame.

"The investigation of the police of Dubai proves what Hamas had said from the first minute, that Israel's Mossad is responsible for the assassination," said Mushir al-Masri, a Hamas legislator in Gaza.

At a Gaza rally of some 3,000 supporters, Hamas' military wing vowed revenge. Addressing the crowd by phone, Mashaal said the al-Mabhouh assassination "paves the way for capturing soldiers until we free all our prisoners from (Israeli) prisoners."

Israel's spy service has been suspected of carrying out assassinations for decades. Recent ones include Imad Mughniyeh, a top Hezbollah commander who was killed in 2008 by a bomb that ripped through his Pajero SUV in Damascus, Syria. Israel denied any role in the hit.

Tehran also blamed Israel for the death of a senior Iranian physics professor who was killed last month when a bomb-rigged motorcycle exploded. Israel did not comment.

Challan Number 33.

Today;

(click picture to enlarge)

I was traveling with my friends on one of the friend's car when we were stopped by our respectable Traffic Police wardens. He showed everything that was asked; license, car's documents, taxation receipts, birth certificate (lol.. okay not that) . But they were like inquiring about EVERYTHING.

After a care-FREE inspection of whatever we handed, they deduced that we are bound for a challan with a number '33'. This challan is called when THE FELONY IS SUCH WHEN THE VERDICT CANNOT BE DECLARED. A criminal offense worth Rupees 100. lol! :D

That's so cool! - I mean; We can be charged for NOTHINGNESS now.. No matter what you do or do not do; You can possibly not escape from Challan Number 33. This challan has been formulated to be as diverse as the mysteries of the Universe!

- We then dubbed Challan Number 33 as, 'KUCH NAHI CHALLAN'. - Jab aap KUCH nahi kerte hain tu apka yeh Challan katta ha.. :D

Certainly Weird.. but fun nonetheless haha :D

Red | Green | WHAT ?

Today,

While driving a friends car, I came across a signal in Clifton that was both Red and Green at the same time! :| . I was like... WHAT ? lol - People were first stopping at this signal. Then thinking if it is actually Red or actually Green, then waited for someone else to do the honors and if found no one brave enough; Bang On! - Who cares ? :D

Sorry guys, I couldn't get a picture although it would have been brilliant. Even Google couldn't find a picture showing a failure of a signal like that, Red and Green at the same time :D

Weird; no ? :P

High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDRI).

Today;

+

+

=

- The image you see is known as an HDR. Some basic concept goes as such that a human eye can perceive around 14 exposure values (EV) whislt a normal CCD can see around 8 EVs (Terry Reinert : 1). This translates that 'we' do not usually see a real scene in an image. A real world scene may contain light ranges that exceed a 50,000:1 dynamic range whilst our displays and capture devices are limited to 300:1 dynamic range! ( Jon Meyer : The Problem )

The process of tone mapping through various algorithms has thus been developed in order to convert HDRs into 'displayeable' LDRs (low dynamic range) images. For capturing an HDR; the same scene may be shot with various exposure settings to get the best possible 'all-round' detail level of a scene and then all those exposures are merged to give a high dynamic range image. :)

The weird thing, again, is the software I used for the creation of this HDR known as Qstpfgui. Yes, I agree it has a weird name but that's not about that.. but about it being an open source project which beats the 5hit out of proprietary softwares.

Panorama-

Today;

I finally learn't how to create breath taking panoramas. It is strange that I am including this in Weirdness but the thing is, it is!

The way the above panoramas are created is absolutely weird; specially considering the fact that I spent 0p on softwares! :D

Okay; So here is a step by step guide to creating a Panorama in Ubuntu 8.04. Sorry guys; if you are not a penguin, don't read ahead! :P

The "penguins"; Just read ahead! ;)

First; We need to download and install "autopanog".
This software is needed in order to automatically detect 'common' points which are referred to, herewith, as 'Control Points'. It's a great little gadget with some MASSIVE wizard work behind it, with an implementation of something called the "sift" algorithm. That's basically not what I can explain.. lol

So, open terminal and type in
sudo apt-get install autopano-sift

Done ? Great!
Now download and install Hugin.
This is basically a software responsible for "Hugging" all your images into a ONE BIG one! :D.

You can find that easily through the "Add/Remove" panel.

Done ? Brilliant!
Now- Get your Camera, put the batteries in and then read what is written ahead.

Ahead:-
If you have a "Grid" feature on your camera; Now is the time to use it. Enable that.
I am going to demonstrate a quick walk through of How to take photos so that you can create a panorama. (well basically you can find a way better tutorial off Google and I know you will, so I won't be meticulous about anything lol)

Okay; So.. I turn ON my camera, Turn ON my GRID feature and take a SNAP! - Simple. Then; Keep the camera at the same height, zoom, exposure and focus settings and turn it by so much a degree, so that you are overlapping about 30 to 40 percent of the previous image. Simple ? ;)

With the Grid; You can easily, precisely and quickly do an overlap but with the Grid off.. you should be careful although it is NOT mandatory to be precise and/or accurate in your overlapping or imaging. Once you use the software package and once you get an idea of how and what the software is doing; You'll understand what I mean by THAT. :)

So ? Have you taken some overlapping pictures as yet or not ? oh darn it! - Do I have to tell you EVERYTHING ? :P

Done ? Good job!
Now; Import these pictures into your computer. Open terminal and direct it to the directory where these images are and then command it
autopanog

This would initiate a GUI of autopanog. Click on the "Load Images" button and load all the overlapping images you wish to create the panorama of. Then hit "COMPUTE".

Please note that autopanog creates some temporary files in your folder where you had your images and please also note that you MUST have the images in the same folder from where you run autopanog because "Hugin" needs the source files to create the final panorama and it expects them to be in the same place as the temporary files it will use to compute and stitch everything together.

After autopanog computes your images; You can now close the small autopanog's status window.

Run Hugin.

Now; In Hugin click on Open and locate to the directory where you had your images and the temps created by autopanog. There you will find a file named; "output.pto". Just select that and open.

Now; Hugin will ask you about the Horizontal Field of View of your lens. For a compact camera, it is generally around 50degrees. That's what I use.. and I get good results. :) - If you know the exact value of your camera, go ahead. :)

After inserting that.. just click "align" from the main Hugin window and then "Create Panorama" and then hopefully; vola!

-----
The most weird thing in this is the availability of such great software suites under the GNU/GPL license.

If you really can get your way around them; they are simply THE most powerfull applications you might ever come across!
Take GIMP for example; it's a nifty little tool compared to a Memory hogging Photoshop suite! OR take Blender for instance; it's a 9MB worth of 3D Modelling program! :|

They came, they shot and they went home..

Today;

The Sri Lankan cricket team in Pakistan was attacked by some "unknown" people. The attackers were caught on tape and even "I" can tell they were trained professionals.

The attack could have been due to various political reasons. There might be 'some' agenda behind this. Anyone, from Islamabad to Washington to India could have helped this happen. I do not blame anyone but my own country men.

This is not a joke. People, today, have lost lives.. Had this been prevented ? NO.
But.. How in the world did those 12 assassins manage to fly away from the spot ? - Weird!
- The security officials have a very strong communication network. Was the 'HQ' unaware of what was going on ? Where was the BACK UP ? - The 'convoy' was under attack, NOT the 'base'.

I think, this is my personal opinion and I certainly might be wrong, that if 'support' had reached the spot on time; there stood NO WAY that those guys could have not been brought to justice. It's just mind boggling to see that "ALL" can be done so so easily!

OR- even; if they had immediately blocked all the possible exit routes.. but sadly; This also became another "Weird things I saw today..". :(

Engine!

Today;

- Well, a few days back.. We made a compressed air powered Engine! :D - Now this is seriously weird! -

About a fews months back; I couldn't stick a nail to a wall and NOW! - I have myself.. made an Engine! - AND That too.. which really works! :D

This specific motor went to 1800 revs/min. Which is nearly the theoretical max. :)

The project involved getting an experience in some major kinds of manufacturing techniques. :)

802.11/USB.e | A weird protocol ? ;)

Today;

Whilst I was going through old stuff; I found some email transcripts that I generated about some time ago. This included a tutorial, a how-to actually, of a nice finding that I came across at that time.

- The background story is that; I was leaving for studies and needed to deploy a surveillance type camera in my house. There were quiet a few options; and one included a simple IP Camera. But.. the cost of it; took it out. The other was to connect a webcam to the lounge (the target area). But to do that; I needed either a computer in the "lounge" or a very long USB cable. Read below for the solution. Btw: Yess! I am NOT going to create the whole howto again AND yes I AM lazy :P - So, find below, some emails. :D

Email 1 - Subject: "USB cable EXTENDED."

Yup!

Used a small Cat5e and chose random a pair of wires AND vola! It worked! :D

- btw: One thing is worth mentioning here.. that at this distance; USB's operation remained at 2.0.

And another thing worth mentioning is; USB is "designed" to operate a VERY short distance. By connecting a USB hub or two, you can take it to 5m through a USB extension cable. By connecting a few USB extensions and Hubs in series you CAN go a Maximum of 30m; THEORATICALLY. Thus the need for a better carrier medium! (6) Cat5e to the rescue! :D or if you may prefer 30m with all those hubs lol!

Alternatively; You can opt for a repeater unit for USB. It won't take it to 30m but again.. connect a few in series! lol! - Khair; The point IS. This IS the perfect solution for extending your USB cables. :D OR You can work yourself with the marvels of LAN cable and go 50m with just the wire! :D - No repeater, No hubs! :D

Why am I telling you all this ? Remote surveillance's; Up next! :D

Please find attached some pictures and a video.
:D

Syed Tauseen Tariq Ali.

Email 2
- Subject: "Going further! :D"

Yaaeekks! -

Now; I wanted it BIG.. Not just THAT small extension. I hooked up, again chosing random pairs, but this time there was a NO-Vola! lol!

- At the back of my mind, I did feared running into this problem. The thing is; USB doesn't produce enough power. That is why the restriction on length of USB cable. The only way to increase this length is by using efficient cabling. That is where Cat5e proves its mark. By using Crossed cables we can reduce electromagnetic blah blah blah Losses and stuff and increase the overall efficiency of transmission and thus the distance. Now; I thought about the perfect combination but.. Well.. i ain't that good in electronics lol! - AND then It came to me that I don't NEED to work my head! Google's here! AND I found the Combo I was looking for! :D -

Orange, Orange/white of CAT to Red of USB
White/Green of CAT to White of USB
Green of CAT to Green of USB
Everything else of CAT to Black of USB
and VOLA!

- The guy claims this type of shielding/combo is good for 50m of cabling, as tested and used by him. Guess what, I have 90m of wire available ... but i'd have to loose some blood for it.. lol!

Khair! As the objective goes! I have created 8m of USB for Remote Surveillance! :D - AND I am wishing to go beyond! :D - Till the Door! :D

Please find attached some pictures; video's in the next email..

Weird stuff hun ? :D
btw: Do make sure, that is if you try it out, to solder everything and insulate everything after testing. I haven't got any pictures of my soldering and insulation but.. to get a stable working setup; you'd need that. :)

Cannot really get the videos to work on Blogger.. will figure out a way and upload them.. :)

The one energy saver pound world.

Today,

After about 5 months of my stay in the United Kingdom, I got a strange realization of this place. And that realization came from my room. I looked up to the source of light I had.. I wondered why it never even blinks ? How come they manage such a constant supply of power ? How ? But soon afterwards.. I saw the energy source from another angle and found it was just a 2 rupe wala Energy Saver! __ Believe it or not.. that is literally the MOST you'll ever get in a Room in a House in UK! - Even in the Lounge they have Energy Savers (okay a few of them), in rooms.. ONE energy saver, in Kitchen, 1 energy saver, in bathroom, 1 energy saver... and that is in an average type of house. By the way, This is NOT an energy efficient house as the Green Peace would put.. then WHAT IS ?

All of the energy consumed by this house in one year, then raise it by the power of 10 would equal the amount of energy we would, in our house, generally consume in one month in Pakistan! AND then WE complain about Load Shedding! - Why ? - We don't care how much energy we are wasting and even HOW much 'bill' we get.. Then why do we care if we don't have 'energy' for a few hours in a day, Why ?

By God; If our houses come as near to 30percent of What these British Houses are.. we would NEVER reach a state of darkness. We do have the power to support the Nation; despite of the shortfalls being listed, I believe. The thing to note is How we use this Power. Preserve it.. and it'll last longer.. Don't.. and it'll reach it's expiry very soon.. :P

btw: I really hate this ONE energy saver phenomenon; it's too haunting to find A bulb lit room! :S

Weapons of Mass Destruction

Quiet a few days back,

- When I was still in my home land, on the eve of Meethee Eid, I saw little children. Little children are a common sight.. I agree; BUT .. Children fully armed ?!?!

It seemed like Somalia! - It was really REALLY weird!
The stance of the children with the weapons.. was just frightening.. It was too professional. They were divided into small groups each hunting down the other. They were acting as a team.. a team of Cold blooded killers.. :|

The weapons were molded off plastic but still.. they look very real and even there way of operation is to some extent similar.

At the age where they should learn How to treat the environment, they are actually self-learning how to destroy it.

The way they behaved.. was a mirror of the events televised on the 12th of May 2007. Those children.. jumping from buses.. leaving there houses.. all armed.. Shook me from inside out..

It was all very depressing.. although I must acknowledge that Injection Molding is helping create nearly-realistic weaponry. :D

- Further more.. in shops across every nook and corner of the country, a Pan shop, a toy shop, a flower shop and even an Ice Cream shop stock these plastic Weapons of Mass Destruction! - Why ? Why do you want to sell replicas of devices that KILL people to innocent minds ? WHY ?

Sunday, August 31, 2008

Today;

Well, actually... about a Week back ( :D ).

I and a few friends; code named Sufi, guy4u and HD, were traveling in Sufi's Nissan.

The car was not in a healthy state AND thus we were """SPOTTED""" by Cops. Well... Cops seem too respectable; By Tullas ar'right! :D

They were there... Standing in the Dark, waiting for innocent people to drive to their ambush! - We saw them and decided to drive right to them...! lol!

One Tulla approached to us and after searching rigorously through our Pockets concluded that WE did not have the CAR's documents to "drive".
I mean... WTF! - Sufi Needs a DOCUMENT to allow him to drive his CAR! Not A license! They wanted to SEE A PERMIT!

Now, this is all very common here. I am not defaming Pakistan or anything.. anybody close to me would easily convey my heart for this Country to you, if you so may desire.

This is about the WEIRD things I saw. And quiet frankly... this is weird. - They.. bluntly said, " Hum tumhare saath bhaioun wala solouk ker rahe hain to tum bhi hamarae saath Bhaiuoun wala solouk kero ".

- They, I must admit, were looking very professional in this procedure. One was busy stopping people and harassing them until it is their "turn" to meet with the "Sahab" ( The person sitting in the Mobile van ). Another Tulla was busy removing people from close to the Mobile and clearing way SO that cars and pedestrians do not stop AND so that people do NOT think there exist any "situation". - It was all very Professional.. and it was all very weird..

Allah Rahim kere!
