The one energy saver pound world.

Today,

After about 5 months of my stay in the United Kingdom, I got a strange realization of this place. And that realization came from my room. I looked up to the source of light I had.. I wondered why it never even blinks ? How come they manage such a constant supply of power ? How ? But soon afterwards.. I saw the energy source from another angle and found it was just a 2 rupe wala Energy Saver! __ Believe it or not.. that is literally the MOST you'll ever get in a Room in a House in UK! - Even in the Lounge they have Energy Savers (okay a few of them), in rooms.. ONE energy saver, in Kitchen, 1 energy saver, in bathroom, 1 energy saver... and that is in an average type of house. By the way, This is NOT an energy efficient house as the Green Peace would put.. then WHAT IS ?

All of the energy consumed by this house in one year, then raise it by the power of 10 would equal the amount of energy we would, in our house, generally consume in one month in Pakistan! AND then WE complain about Load Shedding! - Why ? - We don't care how much energy we are wasting and even HOW much 'bill' we get.. Then why do we care if we don't have 'energy' for a few hours in a day, Why ?

By God; If our houses come as near to 30percent of What these British Houses are.. we would NEVER reach a state of darkness. We do have the power to support the Nation; despite of the shortfalls being listed, I believe. The thing to note is How we use this Power. Preserve it.. and it'll last longer.. Don't.. and it'll reach it's expiry very soon.. :P

btw: I really hate this ONE energy saver phenomenon; it's too haunting to find A bulb lit room! :S

absolute bull crap.

GB is the next cheapest country in the world after Pakistan...lol
Think America, think whatever...I have lived in USA, Singapore, Germany, Hungary, and a little bit in Pakistan and Japan...and the way they use lights at home, shops, and offices, its like you're having a huge festival 24 hours a day. Yes, offices and shops keep most of the lights open even when the city's off to sleep..but Pakistan is the only exception in this list.

And what energy are you talking about? All that energy you get is after most of rural pakistan doesnt even get enough AC power to run a fan. And that rural part of Pakistan accounts for much more area and population than the urban areas.

I'm sorry, but the people repsonsible for power regulation in the country are NOT efficient in any way. And I'm pretty sure everyone agrees to this. No where in the world will you find people keeping massive genereators in their homes to power their appliances.
I wouldnt be surprised if I were told that people working at KESC and Wapda never get power cuts.

I agree, I agree, I agree and I agree AND I agree; even with "absolute bull crap".

BUT; there is ONE thing I disagree and it is that about shops and offices. I haven't lived anywhere but Pakistan and now GB. What I found different, over here, from Pakistan is that people go to bed as the Sun goes down. Shops and offices close way early then in Paki land. Normal timings of shops around Karachi are late until and over midnight. About energy being wasted by keeping lights lit; this is NOT the case over here.

The blog's nothing serious. It's just about the weird things I see. :) - And the weirdness was the creepy way this country is saving on energy! - I am not saying OUR Power Supply System and Systems are up to the standard to support the Nation uninterrupted BUT What I actually meant; was to hypothetically illustrate the importance of 'conservation'.

This is a developed country. They must be having a power surplus to support another United Kingdom. Having said that; this must be acknowledged that this country does really care about HOW they use power.

Sir, it's just the observation of GB that led to this post. It wasn't intended to strike the "system" of this country, and boast "ours", but was aimed to differentiate between the way WE use energy in Pakistan and the way the Brits do. Things might be different elsewhere around the world; but what I found in UK was the same very principal of 'conservation'; everywhere.

Again, I cannot agree with you any less on power deficiencies in our land and a very corrupted "back-end". This must be noted, though, is that even if we attain a surplus of power, without proper conservation.. it won't remain a surplus for long. :)

Regards.
